Regular visits to the dentist have been proven to help prevent dental decay and gum disease. We recommend that our patients visit our office every 3-6 months for routine preventive care to maintain their oral health and uncover early warning signs of disease.

At each preventive visit, Dr. Hooper and your Dental Hygienist will perform a complete dental examination to evaluate the condition of your teeth, gums and jaw joints. Using necessary digital xrays and visual examination, they will look for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, bone loss or other underlying dental problems such as abscesses or infection.

  • If there are no signs of periodontal (gum) disease, your Dental Hygienist will clean and polish your teeth to remove stains and any hard tartar deposits. Should there be evidence of gum disease, Dr. Hooper may recommend periodontal therapy to treat the infection and stop the progress of this destructive condition.

  • We may recommend fluoride treatments or sealants for your child to help prevent tooth decay.

Sportsguards. If you or your child are involved in athletic or recreational sports that involve contact or possible falls, we recommend that you wear a sportsguard to protect your teeth, lips and cheeks from injury. Read more about Mouth Sportsguards

Oral Cancer Screening

In the U.S., oral cancer is responsible for one death every hour, 24 hours a day (www.oralcancer.org). As part of your oral health assessment, Dr. Hooper will thoroughly examine the tongue and oral soft tissue to look for changes or lesions that may be signs of oral cancer.
